Lúcia is a multimedia artist, sculptor and photographer from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and PhD in visual arts from the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP), where she teaches. She participated in the founding of Grupo Arte Construtora (1992/1996), a cooperative of artists whose proposal was to occupy unusual spaces with their interventions, producing them autonomously and with a strong interest in domestic and public spaces; and the Jardim Miriam Arte Clube (Jamac, 2004-2006), performing artistic projects in the outskirts of São Paulo. Among the various group exhibitions, we mention the 2nd and 5th Mercosul Visual Arts Biennial (1999 and 2005), Biennial of Pontevedra, Spain (2000), Panorama da Arte Brasileira (MAM, 2001 e 2007), Istanbul Biennial (2003), São Paulo Biennial (2006), Aichi Triennale, Nagoya (2010), Lyon Biennial (2011), Sharjah Biennial (2013), and Prospect 3, New Orleans (2014), among others.

"The work of Lucia Koch thinks the space, which can pass for the reference to architectural typologies, but not necessarily. It is that the architectural construction, although it is part of what constitutes the space, is far from defining it in its totality."

Lúcia has works in several public collections of the world, such as: Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, MAMAM (Recife, Brazil), MAM/SP, MAC/PR, MAC/RS, LACMA - Los Angeles County Museum of Art , ARCO Foundation (Spain) and Musée d'Art Contemporain de Lyon - MAC (Lyon, France), among others.
